Counting Down To Christmas

by Mini and Me

Even for those of us who were in a bit of denial about Christmas approaching so quickly, the season is here!  My personal preference now and all year is to support small local businesses.  I like meeting shop owners.  I like keeping the money in my community.  I like finding unique items and hand made items.  I also enjoy gift shopping online.  I scour Instagram and Pinterest and Etsy to find special, not mass produced, gifts that I know will be favorites on Christmas morning.

Today we were lucky enough to have our favorite Santa (www.justclaus.com) visit us for a last minute photo session.  He hardly had any visitors, but we heard from several customers that they had waited for hours at North County Fair (a major Westfield Mall) and never even got their photos done before the kids freaked out, and they left.

Why people wait in long lines to park, long lines to get into stores, long lines to get rung up, and long lines to see Santa when there are easier, less crowded local malls and stores in their own neighborhood, I will never understand.

Shop small...Save your sanity.  This week, it could save your budget, too.  A lot of us smaller retailers are having great sales at our stores that rival or surpass the offerings at larger outlets.  Mini & Me is having a 12 Days of Christmas Savings event right now. Every day through Dec. 24th, we announce a special discount of the day on Facebook and in an e-mail newsletter.  (Sign up for our newsletter here:

Plus, we're offering a $10 store credit when you donate a sweater or jacket to our Operation Winter Warmth sweater drive benefitting Hidden Valley House and Gently Hugged (www.gentlyhugged.org)

We have friendly customer service, we deliver, we have fun events and visitors, we have great sales, and we'll get you in and out with all the gifts you need in minutes instead of hours.  Why not give your favorite local shops like Mini & ME a look-see before dealing with the inevitable lines and crowds at the larger malls and big box stores?!?!
