DIY Moisture Rich Makeup Remover

The secret is out--What we put in our bodies and on our skin matters! After our son was diagnosed with medulloblastoma (brain cancer) in 2011, I became not only more concerned about the products we were using in our family, I went to work in the natural supplements/body care industry.

Nobody is perfect, and no, I definitely don't know it all when it comes to natural healthcare, organic farming, or environmental conservation...But I am always learning, and I strive to give my family and my customers products that are as clean, natural, and environmentally friendly as possible. I support vendors who share those values, trying whenever possible to use vendors who are small batch, made in the USA, naturally sourced, and environmentally friendly.

One of our vendors, "Bops," located in Louisiana shares our values, and our current obsession in their line is their diffuser jewelry.  Just add a couple drops of essential oil to the lava stones on their beautiful beaded bracelets or necklaces, and you have portable aromatherapy for up to 2 days!

We also love to use their essential oils in our DIY skincare projects. We recently made a super moisturizing make up remover we love and thought you might like it, too. Here's the recipe; let us know how your batch turns out:

* 1 Tablespoon Unrefined Shea Butter

* 2 1/4 Tablespoon Extra Virgin Coconut Oil

* 1 Tablespoon Sweet Almond Oil (sub grapeseed if you have a tree nut allergy)

* 1 Teaspoon Vitamin E Oil

* (Optional) 2-4 Drops of your favorite essential oil. We like Bops' "Calm" but lavender and frankincense oils are great anti-inflammatory choices, too!

With your fingers or an organic cotton ball soaked in the solution, apply all over your face. Place a warm, wet washcloth over your face for a few seconds. Then wipe that make up off with the washcloth.  You may find you don't even need to follow with another moisturizer as this is so emollient on it's own!

Stay healthy friends!
